Description: You've heard people are having great success with their podcasts to promote themselves, promote a product or brand, or just have fun talking about something they are passionate about. But where do you start? You're probably asking yourself questions like: "What kind of content will be interesting to people I want to reach?", "What format should the podcast be - interviews? stories?" and "how long should the podcast be and how often should we do a show?" This session will help you answer all of these questions and more. Don't guess - there is a process and steps you can take to make sure you are going in the right direction - steps that will keep you from having to change your focus and format down the road after trial and error. Turning Passion into Profits - Converting Free Subscribers into Paying Customers
Track 2: Podcasting as a Business

Instructor: Jake Ludington (bio), MediaBlab.com

Advertising is only one method of building a business from your passion. Convincing your subscribers to literally buy into what you're doing is another way to get paid for your efforts. Jake Ludington has done this twice, first launching a successful series of eBooks marketed directly to thousands of free email newsletters and again in converting many free subscriptions into annual paid subscriptions. In this session, Jake Ludington walks through the process building a customer relationship with subscribers who are used to getting everything for free, including some of the pitfalls, potential backlash and how to avoid the potential buyer's remorse that sometimes comes with Internet transactions. By the end of this session you will come away with a number of ideas for converting free subscribers to paying customers while doing what you love. (Comments)
