Speaker Bio: Joel Welsh

Joel Welsh, Chief Community Officer, Startup Nation

Joel Welsh became the StartupNation Chief Community Officer in 2004. In this role, he communicates directly with the StartupNation audience, helping entrepreneurs get the information and inspiration they need to succeed. Previously, Joel founded a nationally-focused, executive recruiting practice where he worked with corporate clients throughout the United States to add superstar talent to their organizations. He also coached individuals to grow their own successful careers, led corporate training seminars and presented to management teams at annual, company meetings.

Ready for a new challenge, Joel targeted StartupNation as the place to be able to reach the millions of Americans who are ready to take their own leap into entrepreneurship. "For 19 years, I worked daily with individuals in the trenches of their careers, coaching many in their personal decisions to leave the corporate world and experience the joys and passions of being an entrepreneur," states Welsh. "Now, I am able to take my own entrepreneurial passion and encourage others in a much greater fashion. This is an ideal fit for me!"

With his contagious and unforgettable enthusiasm, Joel is the perfect liaison to StartupNation's community. He clearly cares about the success of everyone he meets, especially those who share his passion for entrepreneurship. That may come from the unique fact that he is not only a preacher's kid, but both of his grandfathers were preachers too! Now, Joel spends his energy spreading the gospel of good old American entrepreneurship right here at StartupNation.

A Grove City College graduate (Pennsylvania) with a bachelor's degree in business administration, Joel's career began in Philadelphia in sales, marketing and business management roles with a professional football team. He is a native of Cleveland and spent the first 18 years of his life in northeast Ohio. Joel can be reached at 248-430-1008, joel@startupnation.com.
